Download EdGCM (30-day Demo) EdGCM, or the Educational Global Climate Model, is a suite of software that allows users to run a fully functional 3D global climate model (GCM) on laptops or desktop computers (Macs and Windows PCs). Climate models allow future climate projections to be made, but these are based on scenarios of economic and demographic changes. The uncertainty of the projections results both from the uncertainty of the climate modelling but also from the uncertainty of the economic and demographic evolution. Economics Science Institutions and modelling or for informing policy; more sophisticated techniques, such as regional climate modelling or conditioned stochastic weather generation, are often necessary for applications involving detailed regional modelling of climate change impacts.

2020-07-29 · Computer modeling, the beating heart of modern climate science, is fundamental to our understanding of human-induced global warming and is a singularly important tool cited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in its climate change assessments. How do we define a Climate Model ? “A climate model is a mathematical representation of the physical processes that determine climate” Why do we need Climate Models ? To create an understanding of the climate processes. To create plausible-scenarios, reflecting the current state of scientific understanding.

Climate modelling, scenarios and downscaling - NWP Promoting the development of, access to, and use of information and data on projected climate change. Climate models are based on well-established physical principles and have been demonstrated to reproduce observed features of the recent climate and past climate changes. Models that simulate the climate of the entire earth are called general circulation models, or GCMs.

The course will give good insight in climate change science and the numerical tools that go with it. The course will be given in two modules The second module builds strongly on the first. Climate Modelling To help understand how the climate works and how people are affecting it, we can use computers to model the different systems. The models can range in complexity from very simple to very complex depending on what you are investigating.
